Journaling

Latest

Too often when are trying to help ourselves in times of desperation, our actions only prove the truth of the old adage, “Out of the frying pan into the fire.”  Journaling our experiences with God, at work, with others, in our quiet time provides a protection against this because it sets the sequence of its exercises in such a way that the contents of a life can be experienced in perspective.  Over reactions to adversity or over-enthusiasms of hope can then equally be set in context and brought into balance in the course of the journal exercises.

How to Journal?

There are many ways one can journal his or her experience with God.  Here I have provided a template that can be used at least as a starter.  In one of the Symbolon sessions I presented a method.  Don’t worry if you missed it.  I will present it here in this page.

On a high level, my research about journaling yielded the following areas that are worth refelcting upon and recording what the Holy Spirit releveals to us.

First, I invite the Holy Spirit to search my heart.  We all sin and fall short daily, this is a fact.  Startig your prayer time in the “Search Me” section of my journal gives me the opportunity to do a heart check.  Scroll below to see details.

Second, I Praise God and Thank Him for yesterday and the past gifts.  I thank Him for any truth He shows me about myself.  I thank Him for being a God of Glory who answers prayers.

Third, I will get intimate with God.

Fourth is a freestyle form of communicating with God.

Church History Part 1

Why Church history? C.S Lewis said, the growth of the Church is like a long conversation.  If the conversation started at 10 AM and if we joined the conversation at 3 P.M, we would hardly follow the discussion unless someone updates us.  To fully grasp where we fit...
