The famous painter Vincent van Gogh wrote in a letter to his brother, “I am fairly sure that these canvases will tell you what I cannot say in words.” Why do you think humans have the desire and ability to create things beyond mere tools for survival?

We are more than our physical bodies. Scriptures say, "I knew you before you were conceived in your mother's womb". This life on earth is a tiny fraction of our eternal presence. Because of our relationship with other humans and rest of God's creation, those of us who are willing to quiet ourselves and reflect, have this desire to do more than what appears possible in front of us. The desire wells up to do great things.
