Jesus told these particular stories in answer to the Pharisees' displeasure over his receiving tax collectors and sinners and eating with The Pharisees themselves were fastidious in their avoidance and condemnation of anything "unclean," for fear of contamination. What different perspective did the stories provide? (Read Catechism Nos. 588-589 for help with this question.)
