In Genesis 3:4, the serpent calls God a liar - "You will not die", he says - and proceeds to tell the woman why it will be to her benefit to disobey God. What immediate effects did Adam and Eve's disobedience have on their behavior that show the consequences of sin?

Satan studies our weaknesses.  Attacks us at our weakest moments.  Once we fall, then turns around imparts shame in our hearts.  When we are ashamed (instead of confessing it and avoiding the same sin in future), we hide from God.  This is exactly what Adam and Eve did.  They tried to hide from God.  The Adam blamed Eve for his fall.  He probably felt guilty about that too  later.
