In Genesis 3:4, the serpent calls God a liar - "You will not die", he says - and proceeds to tell the woman why it will be to her benefit to disobey God. What are these supposed benefits?
"For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good from evil" (Gen. 3:5)
Wow, do we ever see the "fruits" of that deception today!
The gender ideology deception jumps to the front of my mind. For years this condition was called "gender dysphoria" and was considered a mental disorder; it may still officially be designated as such in psychiatric circles. the whole premise of the language: "assigned at birth" is language to disconnect God from humanity. By the institution of this we are now told that not only can God screw up, if he even really plays a role in the material universe, but if that does occur we have the ability and compassion to correct what that obviously incapable God can't handle. The other angle of that argument is that if God does actually designate a biology contrary to the person's feelings, that god obviously is not loving and maybe even cruel to assign such a life of inner hostility.
This is what the devil promised Eve; a life as god, being able to decide for herself based on whatever whim she aligns herself with; that whim is "good". And then this is presented to Adam as well who, having his "eyes opened" too now has the same authority to act as he pleases too. Will the two collide? Perhaps it's best to check the client lists of divorce lawyers to answer this.
For the entirety of their time in God's presence, both Adam and Eve were able to walk by and see that tree that had fruit "pleasing to the eye", but were able to walk past it because their focus was on God, but now that their attention was turned to their own desires they see the potential pleasure to their immediate senses in the fruit and cast God's wisdom they relied on out for selfish ambition and instant gratification. I used the example of gender ideology, but think of how many applications this has in life today, not the least of which has piled up bodies of the most innocent in the tens of millions - and I'm not talking about the actions of dictators throughout the 20th and into the 21st centuries where their self-determination as god has snuffed out the lives of over 100 million itself in a century.
