Back in the time of Patriarchs, God declined to reveal His name to Jacob.  Some 400 years later, as God prepared to wrest Israel from the hand of Pharaoh, he told Moses the name by which he wants his people to know Him: In Hebrew, YHWH means I AM.  It has no tense and encompasses all tenses.  It can mean equally "I am who I am" or "I will be what I will be".  Read Exodus 3.  What might Moses have learned about God in this encounter, particularly in the revelation of God's name?  List as many things as you can think of.  Read CCC para 206.
