Something to ponder: why is it so important that our Lord Jesus was both human and Divine?

St. Anselm of Canterbury's explanation: If Jesus was fully human, it will mean that any human can obtain salvation. This means Budha and humans like him who sacrificed a lot for the human kind will become our saviors. If Jesus was fully divine, then God's justice is not at play. Sin was brought into the world by humans. So, humans have to pay for atonement. So, God's ability and willingness and the necessity that humans bear the punishment require that Jesus be a human and Divine at the same time.
